Child Labour Eradication Programme
In a collaborative effort fuelled by compassion and determination, Tharu Janjati Mahila Vikas Samiti and Balshram Unmoolan Janpad Samiti, Gonda, conducted a Child Labour Eradication Programme from July 2011 to December 2011. This transformative initiative reached approximately 40 beneficiaries, aged 9 to 15 years, and their families, with the aim of breaking the cycle of child labour and bestowing upon them the gift of a brighter future.
Programme Highlights
Identification and Outreach: The programme began with the critical task of identifying orphans and victims of child trafficking who were ensnared in the pernicious cycle of child labour. This involved extensive outreach and a dedicated commitment to locate those in need.
Special Child Labour School: A cornerstone of the initiative was the establishment of Special Child Labour Schools within the vicinity of these children. These schools provided a secure and conducive environment for their education and personal development.
Quality Education: Through the programme, these children were enrolled in the Special Child Labour Schools, ensuring they had access to quality education. The curriculum was thoughtfully designed to meet their unique needs.
Building Self-Confidence: Beyond academics, the programme placed a strong emphasis on instilling self-confidence and self-dignity in these children. It sought to rekindle their belief in themselves, empowering them to dream big.
Community Mobilization: Recognizing that child labour is a systemic issue, the programme actively engaged the community. By mobilizing and raising awareness about child labour and child rights, it aimed to create a supportive environment for the rehabilitation of these young beneficiaries.
Networking for Rehabilitation: Collaboration was a cornerstone of this effort. Tharu Janjati Mahila Vikas Samiti and Balshram Unmoolan Janpad Samiti linked with other organizations working tirelessly for child rights to ensure that the enrolled children had access to comprehensive rehabilitation services.
Interactive Learning Workshops: The programme conducted regular workshops for the children, creating an environment of joyful and interactive learning. These workshops not only enhanced their educational experience but also fostered their holistic development.
